Golf England Seeks Treasury Support for 2030 Women's Golf Showcase Bid
The last European vs US women's golf contest held on European soil took place in Spain last year, with the next edition scheduled for Holland in 2026.
In the wake of Europe's recent men's golf championship success, England Golf is calling on UK authorities to support their proposal to organize the Solheim Cup on English soil for the first time.
This renowned tournament between the best female golfers from Europe and the United States has taken place twice in Scotland and in Wales yet never in England. A bid has been assembled to hold it at The Grove within Hertfordshire eight years from now.
However organizers are seeking thirty million pounds to finance the bid and at present just ten million pounds is in place. The organizing body is pressing for government funding to underwrite the funding gap.

Financial Details
To stage a Ryder Cup on European soil requires over four hundred million pounds while for the women's version the requirement is about thirty million pounds.
"We are seeking approximately twenty million pounds from the government to underwrite it," the executive confirmed.
"This amount to add to existing substantial funding from The Grove and England Golf as well as further investors that we'd look to invest."

The spokesperson would not state that negotiations have stalled, but admitted: "Certainly there exists a quandary presently regarding if public authorities can support such tournaments."
