The permission Trump mentioned would have to come via the Olympic governing body. The leader, she, was chosen to her role in March and has yet to appear together with the former president, although she stated that she desires a discussion with Trump at some point.

He also criticized the state's leader Newsom’s handling of this year’s blazes, stating that a parallel incident could lead to the removal of the Games.

“When the governor refuses to cooperate, we’re gonna have to be strict,” Trump said.
