Financial Deals

Trump has already won a $550-billion investment pledge from the Japanese government in return for a break from punishing import tariffs.

Japan's recently appointed prime minister, Sanae Takaichi, is hoping to continue to please Trump with assurances to acquire US pickup trucks, agricultural products and gas, and declare an agreement on maritime construction.

Japan's leader, who became Japan's initial woman prime minister recently, told Trump that strengthening their international partnership was her "primary focus" in a telephone call on Saturday.
